As all the hominids, this Australopithecus could stand, but it preserved the capacity to climb on trees. This species lived in South Africa between 3,3 and 2,1 My. Right, on the photo, there is the molding of another rest belonging to this species: the skull called " Mrs. Ples " (ref. Paranthropus boisei A côté des australopithèques dits « graciles » on trouvait les « robustes », des hominidés qui se nourrissaient de fruits durs (noix, noisettes) et de graminées.

He has a refined culture: he buried his dead men and hewas capable of sophisticated methods of hunting. One of the big mystery of its disappearance is if he was exterminated by the modern men or if he was a sort of sub-species. He could simply have succumbed because of climate changes arisen towards the end of the ice age of ices. It got its name because of the form of its beak, which reminds the one of a parrot. This animal is one of the most ancient ceratopsians (Triceratops and its kindness) known. Nevertheless, some anatomic features, notably in hands, make the scientists think that it cannot be the direct forefather of forms from the end of the Cretaceous. It had to be up to a lateral branch. TOUS LES PRIX SONT INDIQUES HORS TAXES PICTURE: cast of Edmontosaurus annectens skull (100x50 cm²).
Edmontosaur is one of best known and the most recent duck-beaked dinosaurs. It lived in North America at the end of the period of the dinosaurs (between 70 and 65 My; Maastrichtian; Upper Cetaceous). The head sheltered true dental batteries. Thanks to its dentition and a kinetic implement of its skull, it was able of "chewing" its food. These individuals constitute one of the most important groups of herbivore dinosaurs during the Upper Cretaceous in North America and in Asia.

TOUS LES PRIX SONT INDIQUES HORS TAXES PICTURE: cast of Triceratops horridus skeleton (L. 6.3 m, H. 2.2 m).
Triceratops is one of the well-known dinosaurs of the public. Characteristic signs: three horns on the head, one on the nose (except for the youthful individuals, who, according to the stadium of growth, could have more or less developed horn here) and one on each eye, and the ruffle which protected the neck. Triceratops lived at the same time and in the same places as T. rex (who probably was its main enemy), between 70 and 65 My, in North America. On the function of its ruffle many things were said: did it serve for the protection of the neck and the back? For supporting powerful chewing muscles? As sign of recognition between kinds or between male and female? It is also possible that it had several functions at the same time.

T. rex, lived in North America (U.S.A. and Canada) at approximately the end of the period of the dinosaurs (between 70 and 65 My). We do not know if it was an active carnivore or a simple carrion feeder. However, most of the actual specialists think that he could hunt his preys staying hidden in the vegetation and running to them. His big mouth allowed him to inflict on his victims deep wounds, by detaching big pieces of meat.

Diplodocus is, together with the brontosaurus (Apatosaurus), the most famous of Americans sauropods (big dinosaurs with long neck and tail). They frequently affected the lowlands of North America at the end of the Upper Jurassic (towards 145 My ago) feeding on low vegetables. In effect, their necks were not kept vertical or slanting, but rather parallels on the soil. Thanks to these, they swept large surfaces in search of plants to browse. Their teeth, comb-like, did not allow them to chew the food. They grabbed leaves, which were probably worked out, in their gullets. Although their size protected them from the most part of the carnivorous dinosaurs of their times, these animals had to live in herds in order to avoid the predators going hunting in group.

Ouranosaur is a dinosaur who lived in Africa (his rests were found in Niger) towards 110 My (Lower Cretaceous). It was a gentle herbivore whose jaws accommodated teeth able of chewing the food. Its most important physical characteristics were the sail that it carried on the back. The apophyses of its vertebras ware very length and probably they support a membrane. Her function was not clarified yet: she could allow the animal to better regulate its temperature, or to parade for accessing to females, or else to be a sign of interspecific recognition (or several things at the same time).

The rests of this huge crocodile were found in the desert of Ténéré, Niger. They are about 110 My ago (Aptien, Cretaceous lower). By the skull, the specialists think that the animal could attain between 11 and 14 m and weigh up to 9 tonnes (almost one and a half time an elephant!). On what fed this animal? His lengthened muzzle would seem linked to a regime based on fish. Nevertheless, following the example of the modern crocodiles, Sercosuchus had to feed also on vertebrates, notably dinosaurs. On the other hand, his dimensions undoubtedly allowed him to waylay for his preys and of entrainer them under water. Sarcosuchus imperator means «crocodile of flesh» (=Sarcosuchus) «emperor» (=imperator), a name very well chosen for one who could be the biggest among the known crocodiles.
